The lining of the bladder consists of a complex sugar type layer, but is actually made partially of chondroitin sulfate. Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is the oxidized form of dimethyl-sulfoxide (DMSO), and has proved to be an effective pain reliever and anti-inflammatory from previous studies. A randomized double-blind, parallel, placebo-controlled study of glucosamine, MSM and their combination, showed that patients suffering from mild to moderate osteoarthritis experienced a decrease in pain, swelling, and improved function of the joints with the combination product.5
