CPPS (Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome)

Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome, or CPPS, is a condition that is marked by cycles of increasing and decreasing pain in the lower pelvis/bladder/rectum in the absence of chronic bacterial prostatitis or chronic bacterial cystitis. The pain associated with CPPS may radiate from the floor of the pelvis into the rectal area or lower back and can range in intensity from mild to temporarily incapacitating. Chronic fatigue and male sexual dysfunction are frequently component of CPPS, with painful ejaculation and erectile dysfunction being frequent complaints.

The cause of CPPS is not fully understood, but autoimmune, neurological, and hormonal factors may be significant contributors.  Treatment* of CPPS has traditionally been limited to pain management, psychotherapy directed at any co-existing psychological disorders (e.g. anxiety/panic disorders) and prescription medications such as an antidepressant (amitriptyline), NSAID (ibuprofen), gabapentin (Neurontin), or even one of the minor tranquilizers. In those cases where conventional medical therapy fails to control the symptoms of CPPS, there are several nutraceutical preparations that may prove to be effective. Two such tested and proven products are Prosta-Q and Q-Urol.

Prosta-Q is a combination of several natural remedies, including saw palmetto and Quercetin, that have been shown to be effective for bladder/prostate problems. Q-Urol is an extra-strength, timed-release formulation of Prosta-Q but with the addition of pollen extract, which may counter the urinary tract inflammation associated with CPPS.

In addition to these products, several additional products indirectly address CPPS by promoting overall bodily health at the systemic level.

Omega-Core contains the Omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA, both of which are essential to normal nerve function in both the central and peripheral nervous systems. These same fatty acids may also address the inflammation that may contribute to the progression of issues such as CPPS.

Aliperol features two compounds, Red Yeast Rice and CoEnzyme Q-10, that are known to improve good cholesterol levels and, in the case of CoEnzyme Q-10, functions as a critical component of energy production in the body’s cells. Combining Omega-Core and Aliperol may lead to maintaining proper cholesterol levels while helping to address the fatigue component of CPPS.

TriverexTM MD is a nutraceutical preparation that incorporates several natural substances that are known to improve male sexual health by improving arterial blood flow into the penis, which can lead to longer and stronger erections as well as targeting mood (improving the psychological outlook toward the sexual experience).

Summing up for this post, CPPS causes both chronic pelvic pain and sexual dysfunction in males. Although the cause of CPPS is not well-understood, there are several natural products that have been clinically shown to help address various symptoms that are associated with this form of prostate dysfunction and inflammation.
